If you wish to submit a Letter of Inquiry to this office to determine if your programs and services and/or special project match the Foundation’s funding priorities, we request that you submit a concise (two to three page) LOI to include the following:
brief statement of your agency’s history, overall program goals and special objectives;
target population (to include number of people to be served by your project and number of people your organization serves annually); and
revenue and expense projections for the current agency budget (no more than two pages) and separate project budget (if applicable), as well as amount requested from this Foundation. Income projections need to list major categories of funding, such as: individual contributions, foundation and corporate grants, government support, and fees for service or tuition (where applicable).
Your Letter of Inquiry will receive preliminary staff review to determine if the request falls within our Policy Guidelines and whether a Full Proposal can be invited for consideration at a future Board meeting. We will respond in writing to your inquiry within no more than 20 days from receipt of your letter. If you have not received our reply within that time frame, feel free to call us.
Please note that the Foundation does not fund projects outside the five Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo). We do not provide direct assistance to individuals, nor do we support medical/scientific research, conferences or one-time events.
We will treat all information submitted by you with strict confidentiality.
